Easily Retrofit the Thermal Comfort of Wall Heating in Old Buildings

Comfortable radiant heat without bulky radiators

The benefits of wall heating can be retrofitted to older buildings with simple means. Panel heating can also be connected to conventional heating systems with high flow temperatures via return temperature limiters. The comfort of wall heating can be retrofitted in individual rooms using ready-to-install plasterboard panels for drywall construction or plastering. The following features characterise the comfort of wall surface heating.

Benefit Thermal comfort

FLEXIRO systems implement the principle of radiant panel heating very efficiently. Heat is distributed evenly over a large area of the wall through the narrow loops of the flexible 10 mm polyethylene pipe. This means that the water-bearing wall heating system can operate at low flow temperatures and still provide a level of thermal comfort comparable to a tiled stove. Because the heat from a wall heating system has a very high radiant component and also radiates from the other walls and ceiling, the human body feels as comfortable at a room temperature of 20°C as it does at 22°C, which is generated by conventional radiators.

The following illustration shows the temperature curves of different types of heating compared to the climate zones of the human body. Wall heating comes very close to the ideal of room temperature control. The result is an even temperature pattern that provides comfortable warmth for the whole body.

Benefit Healthiness

Due to the comparatively low surface temperatures and the even temperature stratification in the room, wall heating produces hardly any air turbulence. This means that fewer allergens circulate in the air. This is an advantage not only for house dust allergy sufferers. Mould growth is also actively prevented because the even heating of large surfaces prevents cold bridges at corners or window soffits and temperature differences in the room. The direct heating of the wall reliably counteracts the penetration of moisture into external walls by shifting the dew point. FLEXIRO wall heating creates a comfortable, homogeneous and healthy indoor climate, even in old buildings.

Benefit Design freedom

A key advantage of wall heating is its invisibility. Wall heating unobtrusively regulates the room temperature by evenly radiating heat to the floor, ceiling and other walls, 'warming' them as well. The result: no unsightly radiators to interfere with creative interior design and furnishing options. Our advice: Plan the position of the wall heating so that there are no large pieces of furniture in front of it that could block the radiation. All other walls and surfaces in the room can be designed and used as you wish.

Benefit Economic efficiency of wall heating

As well as being healthy and environmentally friendly, wall heating systems are particularly economical due to their low flow temperatures. They allow the use of all energy sources and have further advantages when combined with renewable energies such as solar or geothermal energy. With the FLEXIRO retrofit kit for wall heating you can reduce heating costs in old buildings.
